My name is E'leese Madgett Manrique and I am 12 years old. This summer I
will be leaving Buffalo, Minnesota 0n Thursday, June 7, 2008, for a ride.
My ride will end on August 31, 2008. I will be raising money to start a
ranch. The ranch will be named, "The Ranch"
I am going to ride from town to town raising money. We will create a place where any soldier in need of a place to heal can go for free.
The Ranch will not be fancy, in fact it will be humble. Just like the men and women that serve their country. Here in Minnesota we have a very good life. People in Minnesota have a long tradition of service and volunteering. Neighbor helping neighbor. The Ranch will be a number of cabins surrounding a lodge and dining room. Soldiers can spend the day lounging around. Taking a walk, going for a swim, or taking a horse out for a ride. Do ranch chores or relax, read a book, or have a good conversation, be our guest. For those who do so much for others, we thank you.
When you come to The Ranch you will be on a real working ranch. Step back to a gentler time. Spend your day as you like. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served in the dining room. Pick a horse and go for a ride. Camp out over night or stay in a beautiful cabin. Take your boots off and relax by a campfire at night.
Volunteers will work the ranch and dining room. It will be a "The Ranch" in every state.
My mom will be my support team (we can always use your help).
